Daniel Hornbarger Daniel Hornbarger is a principal at Axia and brings to the firm a diverse set of experiences. Over the last 13 years, Dan has worked with a wide range of organizations from Fortune 500 and middle-market companies to new venture start-ups.
Prior to joining Axia, Dan served as a vice president at Three Cities Research, Inc. (TCR), a private equity firm that acts investment advisor to several capital pools totaling in excess of $650 million.
While at TCR, Dan was responsible for the investment, operational and strategic oversight of several investments including a leading national distributor of new office furniture and a $45MM specialized manufacturer of erosion control and landscaping equipment. Prior to leaving TCR, Dan was responsible for the strategic positioning and financial turnaround of a $100MM manufacturer of capital equipment for the forest products industry.
In 1991, Dan helped start The Lucas Group, a "boutique" corporate strategy consulting firm based outside Boston, Massachusetts. As one of five founding members, Dan helped grow and shape a successful company.
Prior to joining The Lucas Group, Dan's professional background includes operational experience gained at Merry-Go-Round Enterprises and Hot Rock Incorporated. Dan served as the youngest manager in Merry-Go-Round's history, and was responsible for opening several new stores, as well as supervising the turnaround of the company's ten-store New England district. A founding member of Hot-Rock, the first telemarketing firm to sell records and tapes via a toll free number, Dan was responsible for helping to build the company from the ground up.
Dan graduated from Babson College in 1990 and has a B.S. in business administration. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma national honor society and an avid scuba diver and underwater photographer. Dan currently lives outside New York City with his wife and two children.
